Geboren 1954 in Wilhelmshaven. Lebt und arbeitet in Bremen. 1974–1982 Studium der Freien Malerei an den Hochschulen für Bildende Künste in Hannover und Bremen. Preise (Auswahl): 2010 Royal Talents Painting Award, Noordwijk, Niederlande; 2013 Artes Visuales Pintura, Fundacion Arena, Barcelona; 2014 Pintar Rapido Amsterdam; 2016 Artist in Residence, van Goghhuis Zundert, Niederlande. Daneben zahlreiche Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland sowie öffentliche Ankäufe. Die Darstellung von Architekturen, Landschafts- und Planzenfragmenten sind ein Hauptthema der Künstlerin. Ihre Arbeiten in kontrastreichen subtilen Farben sind poetisch und atmosphärisch. “Ich male die Eindrücke und Empfindungen, die das Zusammentreffen von Architekturen und Natur bzw. Landschaften in mir hinterlassen. Dazu muss ich den Ort mit seiner Szenerie verstehen. Und inspiriert sein. Ich suche und finde diese Orte in meiner realen Umgebung genauso wie in Bildern oder Fotografien. Hauptsache, ich habe das Gefühl, das will ich malen, jetzt.” www.schapals.com
